Short version: This app collects no personal data by default. If you grant location permission and are in the WorldView or Meteosat MTG region, your device location is sent directly to NASA or EUMETSAT servers solely to center the satellite imagery on your area. It is never stored, logged, or shared with anyone else.

1. About This App

Earth from Space Live Wallpaper is an independent Android application.

2. Data We Collect — Default Behavior

By default, this app collects no personal data of any kind. Specifically:

No account registration or login is required or offered.
No analytics or usage statistics are gathered.
No crash reports are transmitted.
No advertising identifiers are accessed.
No data is stored on external servers by this app.

The app periodically downloads publicly available satellite imagery from NASA servers (described in Section 4). These requests contain no information that identifies you or your device.

3. Optional Location Permission

The app offers the option to use your device's location to automatically center the satellite imagery on your geographic area. This feature is entirely optional and requires you to explicitly grant Android's location permission.

Location is used differently depending on which satellite region is active:

GOES East / West (Americas): all processing is performed entirely on-device. No location data is transmitted over the internet.
Meteosat MTG (Europe / Africa) and WorldView (Asia): your approximate coordinates are used to construct a geographic bounding-box image request sent to EUMETSAT's or NASA's public servers respectively.

In all cases, if you grant this permission:

Location data is never stored — not on any server controlled by this app.
Location data is never shared with advertisers, analytics providers, or any third party other than the public imagery servers described in Section 4.
Coordinates are transmitted solely as part of a standard HTTPS image request URL. This app never sees or logs them separately.

You can revoke the location permission at any time in your Android device settings (Settings → Apps → Earth from Space Live Wallpaper → Permissions). If revoked, the app will fall back to a default map region.

4. Third-Party Data Sources

The app displays satellite imagery fetched from the following public services. When the app requests imagery, your device's IP address is visible to these services as part of a normal internet request, the same as visiting any website.

NOAA GOES East / West (GOES-19 / GOES-18) — full-disc Earth imagery served via NOAA's Amazon CloudFront CDN. No personal data is sent; requests are for fixed public image URLs.
EUMETSAT Meteosat Third Generation / MTG (view.eumetsat.int) — GeoColor true-colour imagery. When in the MTG region and location permission is granted, your coordinates are used to construct a bounding-box image request sent to EUMETSAT's public WMS server. EUMETSAT's terms of use apply: eumetsat.int/about-us/terms-use.
NASA GIBS / Worldview (earthdata.nasa.gov) — NOAA-21 VIIRS true-color imagery and PACE OCI true-color imagery. When in the WorldView region and location permission is granted, your coordinates are included in the image tile request URL to select the relevant portion of Earth. NASA's data usage policies apply: earthdata.nasa.gov/…/terms-of-use.

This app has no control over and is not responsible for the privacy practices of these services.

5. Data Retention

The most recently downloaded satellite image is cached on your device so it can be displayed without a network connection. This is a satellite photograph of Earth — it contains no personal information. It is overwritten each time a new image is downloaded and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Your wallpaper preferences (selected satellite, display settings, etc.) are stored in Android's standard SharedPreferences on your device only. They are never transmitted anywhere.

6. Children's Privacy

This app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no personal data is collected at all, this app is appropriate for all ages.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the updated version will be posted at the same URL and the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
